In our fast-paced world filled with constant demands and expectations, many of us find ourselves caught in a whirlwind of emotional chaos. It's that overwhelming feeling when you can't focus during prayer, when anxiety clouds your thoughts, when regrets from yesterday and fears about tomorrow collide in your mind. This emotional turbulence doesn't make you a spiritual failure—it makes you human, and most importantly, it makes you someone who needs Jesus.

UNDERSTANDING EMOTIONS

Scripture is rich with examples of emotionally complex individuals who walked closely with God. Consider Elijah, who despite his powerful ministry, found himself under a tree begging God to let him die. Remember Hannah, whose bitter weeping in the temple reflected her deep anguish. Even Peter, one of Jesus's closest disciples, was overwhelmed with such intense emotions that he denied knowing Christ three times. These biblical examples remind us that experiencing strong emotions doesn't separate us from God's love or purpose. Rather, these emotions can serve as pathways to deeper connection with our Creator.

The key distinction we must understand is that emotions themselves aren't the enemy—they're messengers. God intentionally designed us as emotional beings, and Jesus himself experienced the full spectrum of human feelings during His earthly ministry. The problem arises when we allow our unchecked emotions to take control, when they drive our decisions and actions without the guiding wisdom of the Holy Spirit. As Proverbs 25:28 illustrates, a person without self-control is like a city with broken walls—vulnerable and defenseless against whatever comes. But here's where grace enters: self-control isn't achieved through sheer willpower alone. It's a fruit of the Spirit, developed through spiritual surrender and divine partnership.

STOP LETTING YOUR FEELINGS DRIVE THE BUS

Learning to listen to your emotions rather than being ruled by them is transformative. When overwhelm hits, it might be signaling that you've taken on burdens not meant for you to carry. When anxiety surfaces, it could be highlighting areas where trust in God's sovereignty needs strengthening. When anger flares, it might point to boundaries that need establishing or injustices that deserve attention. By treating emotions as information rather than commands, we gain valuable insight into our spiritual condition and needs.

The biblical pathway to emotional balance isn't about suppression or denial. It's about bringing our full emotional experience into God's presence, just as Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane. There, facing immense anguish, He didn't hide His emotions—He expressed them honestly before ultimately surrendering to the Father's will with those powerful words: "Yet not as I will, but as you will." This represents the perfect model for handling emotional chaos: acknowledgment followed by surrender.

PRACTICAL BIBLE-BASED STRATIES

Practical strategies for cultivating emotional balance include:

  • Pausing before reacting,
  • Naming what you're truly feeling beyond surface emotions,
  • Saturating your mind with Scripture that speaks truth when emotions lie,
  • Inviting the Holy Spirit to guide your emotional responses,
  • 5) Intentionally incorporating rest into your routine as a sacred practice rather than a last resort.

These biblical approaches don't eliminate emotions—they transform how we experience and express them.

For those walking through particularly intense seasons of emotional turmoil, remember that seeking support through Christian counseling, pastoral guidance, or spiritually grounded friendships isn't a sign of spiritual weakness but of biblical wisdom. God often works through community to bring healing and perspective when our internal chaos feels overwhelming. Sometimes the most spiritual decision you can make is acknowledging you need help and reaching out for it.

The journey toward emotional balance isn't a one-time transformation but a daily practice of surrendering thoughts and feelings to Christ. By consistently bringing our emotional experiences into God's presence through prayer, meditation on Scripture, and Spirit-led community, we gradually develop the capacity to experience emotions deeply without being controlled by them. This is the beautiful balance God intends for us—not emotional numbness, but emotional wholeness under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

Hi friend, I’m Paula

… a grandma, pastor and follower of Jesus

I've always felt pulled to the quiet, sacred spaces where transformation happens—not in the spotlight of large ministries, but in the intimate moments of women (and men's) lives. As a spiritual midwife, I walk alongside Christian women, guiding them through the space between struggle and breakthrough, helping them uncover their God-given identity.

Faith, Coaching, and Lived Experience

Unlike many, my approach stems from real-life wisdom, not just theory.

  • As a Christian coach and certified practitioner in holistic techniques, I draw from my own story to teach others.
  • I believe in the power of small steps that add up over time, like starting with a simple prayer or a moment of journaling amidst the chaos of daily life.
  • Through one-on-one coaching, I help women build sustainable devotional rhythms that bring calm and clarity, transforming overwhelm into opportunities for revelation.
I'm passionate about empowering women to integrate faith into their everyday routines—whether that's balancing family, work, or personal growth. By weaving Scripture with practical self-care strategies, I show how these elements can help you feel more connected to God and at peace in your relationships. As a mom and grandma myself, I understand the profound influence we have on our children and grandchildren, and I love reminding women of the eternal impact of their faithful steps.

Embracing Your Unique Calling

At the heart of my work is a celebration of individuality, inspired by truths like those in Psalm 139:14, which reminds us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. I see the God-sized potential in every woman I meet, even when it's hidden under layers of busyness or doubt. My gifts—empathetic listening, biblical insight, and a knack for creating sacred rhythms—serve as bridges between ancient faith and modern life. I encourage you to give yourself room to breathe, to honor your unique path, and to make it doable today by taking those first, gentle steps toward freedom and empowerment.

If you're yearning for a deeper connection with God, more balance in your daily life, and the tools to strengthen your faith, I'm here to guide you.
