Why a Sugar Detox?

Most of us swim in sugar during times of celebration, and it can be hard to cut back afterwards. On average, we consume 17 teaspoons of added sugar each day- the equivalent of about 80 small jelly beans!

Excess sugar consumption is tied to an increased risk of heart disease, the leading cause of death for both men and women. A surplus of added sugar has also been linked to type 2 diabetes and cancer risk and may negatively affect psychological health.

Below are five tips to help you cut back on sugar and make it through the dreaded after-the-celebration sugar detox!

1. Hydration Station
  • Water with Lemon Juice, I love adding in YL Lemon Vitality
  • Coconut Water
  • Adding electrolytes to your water, most effortless way? Add a pinch of Sea Salt or grab YL's Vitality Drops
  • Bone Broth is even great

2. Probiotics
Foods with Probiotics or a Probiotic Supplement will help even out your gut bacteria. I prefer Life 9 from YL

3. Protein, fat, and greens
Pretty simple; protein, healthy fats & leafy greens

4. Activated charcoal
Charcoal is fantastic for clearing your system.

5. Move
Walking, Biking, or a hike. Just get out and exercise. Exercising will help significantly in the detox process.

By weaving Scripture with practical self-care strategies, I show how these elements can help you feel more connected to God and at peace in your relationships. As a mom and grandma myself, I understand the profound influence we have on our children and grandchildren, and I love reminding women of the eternal impact of their faithful steps.
