A Peaceful Path for Expectant Moms

As a mom of three, and proud grand-mom of six little ones, I've seen how essential oils can bring some much-needed peace and serenity for expectant mothers. It's a magical time, but let's be real - it can also be stressful and overwhelming! Thankfully, our wonderful plant allies can help banish negative vibes and create a more blissful, worry-free environment for both mom, baby, and other family members.

Epigenetics

Are you expecting a bundle of joy? Then, we need to visit about a little-known fact about pregnancy: Epigenetics. This fancy term refers to how outside factors can impact how your baby's genes work. And get this: emotions play a part in this during pregnancy. Those feelings of stress, anxiety, negativity, and fear can impact your baby's genetic code.

Epigenetics is the study of how markers are turned on or off in the DNA, affecting both the physical and emotional aspects of your little one's genetic makeup. Emotional trauma and negative emotions can actually be passed down to your baby through DNA, just like physical inheritances.

Positive Emotions to the Rescue

On the other hand, positive emotions such as joy, love, and peace can influence your unborn child in positive ways. When a mother experiences positive emotions, it can affect the developing child both emotionally and physiologically, promoting healthy development and resilience. So staying positive and keeping the good emotions flowing is one of the best things you can do for your baby's future.

This is where the Aroma Freedom technique (AFT), created by Dr. Benjamin Perkus/Clinical Psychologist, can play a vital role for mom's-to-be. It is a powerful modality that combines essential oils with a specific protocol to release negative thoughts, feelings, and memories. It's a gentle and effective way to deal with the stress and emotional challenges that can come with pregnancy.

When an expectant mother uses AFT, it can help to reverse the impact of negative experiences and ensure that they don't impact the developing child in negative ways.

Mom-to-be Care

We've talked a lot about baby, but now let's talk about your well-being, mom. You may have already heard that setting aside a little “me time” in the form of daily meditation is a proven stress-reliever. But did you know that letting go of negative emotions and limiting beliefs can double your efforts when it comes to the peace and calm department?

Aroma Freedom is a win-win, for both mom and baby!

It is clear that the emotional and spiritual care of expectant mothers is just as important as physical care. By using the correct tools, mom! you can promote a positive emotional state for yourself and your unborn child.

Third Trimester & Postpartum

Let's focus on the third trimester of your pregnancy, as well as those first few months after your baby is born.

Here are seven easy ways to see negative thoughts, feelings, and memories just melt away, leaving you in a good place for caring for yourself and your growing family. Put the following strategies on the top of your "mom" to-do list:

  1. Start by taking advantage of the benefits that come with the use of aromatic molecules (essential oils that come from the plants created to make your journey easier). Try different oils and blends until you find the ones that resonate with you personally. Make sure that they are of the best quality.
  2. Create a peaceful, relaxing environment in your home. Diffuse oils such as lavender, frankincense, and chamomile. Or create a calming spray to mist around the room.
  3. Take time each day to quiet your mind and focus on your breathing. You can use essential oils to enhance your time of stillness by placing a drop of frankincense on your palms and inhaling deeply.
  4. Spend time outdoors and connect with the natural world around you. You can inhale essential oils such as pine or lemon while enjoying a walk in the woods or by the water.
  5. Take time each day to do something that fills you up, whether it's soaking in a bath, reading a book, or listening to soothing music. Use essential oils such as bergamot or jasmine to enhance your self-care routine.
  6. Take time to connect with your faith and spirituality, whether through prayer, meditation, or delving into the scriptures. Use essential oils such as frankincense or myrrh to enhance your spiritual practice.
  7. Surround yourself with a community of supportive individuals who can offer encouragement and guidance during this transformative time and reach out to schedule an Aroma Freedom session for yourself and your circle of friends. They will thank you for it.
In addition to these strategies, I believe that being connected to a church family can be incredibly beneficial during this time. Raising a child in the faith is an important part of parenting, providing a place where littles can experience the joy of God’s love early on. It can also help parents navigate the ups and downs of parenthood and provide a safe place for support and encouragement.

During pregnancy, taking care of your emotional well-being is just as crucial as taking care of your physical health. Your emotions are not simply feelings that come and go, they have the potential to affect your overall wellness, stress levels, hormone production, and vibrational frequency.

For this reason, it's important to nourish your spirit in healthy ways, eliminating negativity as much as possible. And the most effective way to do that is by incorporating therapeutic-grade essential oils into your daily routine, the ones that will support those high-frequency emotions.

Childbirth & Beyond

And think about this. If you're considering the Aroma Freedom technique during pregnancy, it may prove helpful in coping with fear and anxiety during childbirth. Mothers and babies share experiences and emotions from the moment of conception, making the AFT session one of the best tools for addressing emotional concerns during pregnancy, childbirth, and after that little bundle of joy is delivered into your arms.

It is very effective in releasing past emotional wounds, expectations, and misconceptions for both mothers and fathers, as well as other family members who are adjusting to the newest addition.

Pregnancy is a time of joy and excitement as mom eagerly anticipates the arrival of her precious little one. It’s a time when she conscientiously cares for her body and nurtures her developing baby with the best nutrition and exercise possible. It's also a very important time to care for mom's emotional wellbeing.

You have the Power, Mom!

Womb experiences can predispose your precious little one to certain emotional responses throughout his or her life. But do not worry, because you, mom, have the power to strengthen positive emotions and release negative ones. If you desire to delve deeper into this topic, consider reading Dr. Benjamin Perkus' book, The Aroma Freedom Technique.

As an Aroma Freedom practitioner (in training), I have been blessed with the opportunity to witness the profound impact that essential oils can have on the emotional and spiritual well-being of my clients. In my vocation, I have seen countless individuals use this amazing technique to dissolve negative thoughts, feelings, and memories that are holding them back from reaching their goals and living their best life.

I look forward to working with more and more moms-to-be, to the benefit of themselves and upcoming generations.

Community Matters

It's important for expectant mothers to know that the journey is much more enjoyable with the support of others. So, be diligent in seeking out the support of loved ones, mom-to-be groups, and even a faith community to help you through this beautiful yet complex experience. And when you are ready, reach out and I will be honored to lead you and your friends through a group AFT session.

You CAN positively influence your emotional wellbeing and create a happier, healthier outcome for yourself and for your baby. I'm here to walk with you during this wonderful, joyous time. Best wishes to you and your growing family!
